A major portion of the early choreographies (Dreams Forever: Encounter: The Hunt: Celebration: Dance of Shiva: Phagun) utilized the music of Ananda Shankar as well as compositions specifically arranged for Srijan by the musicians of the Uday Shankar India Cultural Center in Calcutta, India (Pranaam: For the Pleasure of Dancing: God: Machine: New Rain: Yudh Yatra). Recent choreographies have used music from Ravi Shankar (Question) and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (Tracery).
Key choreographies have included pieces set to poetry in both English (Earth: Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva: Dance of Worship: Death Wedding) and Indian languages (Jhoolon) as well as dance dramas (Monsoon Impressions: Earth: Deer and the King). A major innovative piece utilized classical Indian music (Khyaal)
